Turkey Adapted Books | The Turkey on the Farm

These turkey adapted books, The Turkey on the Farm and This is How We Make A Turkey Sandwich are a fun, hands-on Thanksgiving literacy resource for preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, special education, autism classrooms, and speech therapy groups. This interactive set includes two adapted books that help students practice farm vocabulary, prepositions, sequencing, and basic life skills through repeated text, movement, and active participation.

The first book, The Turkey on the Farm, is a turkey-themed adaptation of “The Wheels on the Bus” that focuses on preposition words as students move the turkey and match the correct preposition on each page. The second book teaches the steps for making a turkey sandwich and includes sequencing practice plus a visual recipe card for extending learning in the classroom. It is a great fit for small groups, literacy centers, workstations, and seasonal therapy sessions.

The students will manipulate the turkey on each page to demonstrate the preposition word, or the direction in which the turkey moves. They will also match a preposition word to each page.

The second book teaches students the steps to making a real turkey sandwich! Students can match each step to each page and then sequence the entire process on the very last page of the book.

This book also includes a visual recipe card if you would like to extend the learning and make a real turkey sandwich with your students in the classroom.
