This Garden Adapted Book with Real Photos and Garden Riddles is a hands-on garden-themed literacy activity for preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, special education, autism classrooms, and speech therapy. This interactive adapted book helps students identify garden vocabulary by attribute, feature, and function while building listening skills, comprehension, and early making inferences skills with meaningful real photos.
As the teacher or therapist reads each riddle, students listen for clues, identify the correct garden object, and match the photo that best fits the description. After completing the book, students can extend learning by creating their own garden-themed riddles. This resource is a great fit for small groups, literacy centers, workstations, and therapy sessions, especially for students who benefit from visual supports, repetition, and hands-on interaction.
Sample Text:

What can it be?
It's the liquid that we pour on our seeds and plants to help them grow.
(Students find the picture and turn the page to see the answer revealed.)
It's water!
That's right!
Water is the liquid that we pour on our seeds and plants to help them grow.
After the students have worked through the book, there is an extension activity included where they can practice creating their own garden themed riddles. Students working independently may work through the book at a literacy center.
